What Exactly is Gaslighting?

"Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, making them question their own memory, perception and sanity. Using persistent denial, misdirection, contradiction and lying, it attempts to destabilize the victim and de-legitimize the victim´s belief" (Oxford Dictionary)

 

What is Gaslighting? and Why everyone is talking about it?

Nowadays, Gaslighting is being used a lot on TV, Youtube,Netflix and so much more. It is used in political, racial, workplace as well as gender context. You know why? Because many people gaslight  each other and the victim suffers a lot. Sometimes the abuser is conscious and sometimes he/she unconsciously gaslights the victim.
