Why do I work extra hard?

What do I have to prove?

My insecurities run deep,

And my desire to be seen is so steep.

I want to be the best of the best,

So I strive to give my all,

I don't want to be like the rest,

I want to stand tall.

I want to be seen as a success,

And be praised for my hard work,

I want to be the one they address,

And be seen as a leader that they don't shirk.

But my insecurities keep rising,

My fear of failure is strong,

I know that I am not perfect,

But I have to be right all along.

My need for approval is strong,

And I want to be seen as capable,

I want to be admired and praised,

And be seen as reliable.

I want to show that I can do it,

And be the one that they look up to,

I want to be seen as a leader,

And be the one that they look to.

My insecurities are deep,

But I'm determined to succeed,

I want to be the best of the best,

And prove that I'm more than what I seem.
