I AM NOT AS GOOD AS THEY ARE? (POEM)

 I am not as good as they are,

That much I know,

It's something I can't ignore,

Though I try to let it go.

I am not as brave as they are,

That much is clear,

I can't seem to take the chance,

I'm scared of what I'll hear.

I am not as strong as they are,

My heart is weak,

I'm afraid of what I'll find,

If I take a peek.

I am not as smart as they are,

I'm not as wise,

I'm not as clever as them,

I'm not that wise.

I am not as kind as they are,

My heart is cold,

It's hard to show compassion,

When I feel so old.

I am not as loved as they are,

My heart is empty,

I'm not as loved as them,

It's hard for me to see.

I am not as skilled as they are,

My talents few,

I'm not as talented as them,

It's hard to break through.

I am not as successful as they are,

My dreams remain unrealized,

I'm not as successful as them,

It's hard to be surprised.

I am not as happy as they are,

My joy is fleeting,

I'm not as happy as them,

It's hard to keep believing.

I am not as perfect as they are,

My flaws are too many to count,

I'm not as perfect as them,

It's hard to not feel like a mount.

I am not as good as they are,

But I'm still me,

I'm trying my best to be better,

And that's all I can be.
