Gaslighting Examples in Movies

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation that can be seen in many movies. Some examples include:

• Psycho (1960): Norman Bates' mother convinces him that he is his dead father, creating a false reality and making Norman doubt his own sanity.

• The Girl on the Train (2016): Rachel is manipulated by her ex-husband, Tom, and his new wife, Anna, into believing that she is going crazy and imagining events that actually happened.

• Gaslight (1944): Gregory convinces Paula that she is imagining things, such as the dimming of the gas lights in the home they share, and that she is going insane.

• Rosemary’s Baby (1968): Rosemary is manipulated by her husband and neighbours into believing that she is going mad and that the baby she is carrying is not of this world.
